Cologne is one of the ugliest town in Germany. You have to drink large quantities of Klsch to avoid getting depressive. I will upload some pictures later this week.
Today I am back, catching up emails and stuff (*). My parents are visiting me for a few days, and i have started to rearrange the furniture in my flat.
* When i have moved my computers out of the kitchen I will have to update the Minimac, because Peter Grehan fixed detection of the CD-ROM drive.
Other interesting email: kris’ slides of his BSDCan talk about the FreeBSD package cluster.
Some patches to the FreeBSD sound system to improve telephone application like skype with onboard soundchips like the VIA 8233. Marius hacked Xorg to work on sparc64-systems with ATI cards.
And there is a nice Free vs. OpenBSD flameware happening on the FreeBSD and OpenBSD mailinglists.

Time for a change
Sometimes like today I wake up, and think that it is time to change something in my life. Unfortunately i don’t know what: leave my girlfriend, quit my job(s), move out of my flat, sell my computers or something completely different.
Since I don’t know where to start I usually just carry on.
Guests
My sister and her boyfried are visiting Vienna this weekend. On Friday we have visited the Mumok. I liked the exhibition of the “Costakis Collection”, a greek diplomat who collected russian Avantgarde. I bought the exhibition catalogue, so that i can remember which stuff i will buy, if i have too much money :-). The other exhibition “John Baldessari – A differend kind of order” was ok too, but some installations were a bit strange (see “Teaching a plant the alphabet” at Horst’s blog)
Yesterday we went to my favorite korean restaurant, were i have been eating a strange dish (I think it was called Zazamn), that looked like earthworms in chocolate (according to the descripition in the menu, it was noodles with black beans).
Later we went to the WUK, where we watched “moment 05” an international Impro-theater competition.
Hot in Here
Easter
I have been visiting Salzburg on Eastersunday. I have been to the new Museum der Moderne on the Mnchsberg. The photo was shot from the terrace of the museum’s caf.
The building is quite nice, but the illumination sucks, there are very bright neon lamps at the ceiling, that produce a lot of reflections on the Paintings.
The George Condo exhibition was quite interesting, the other one were very small.
Busy & Easter upcoming
There have been only three Entries in this blog in March. I have been busy working at $JOB1 and $JOB2 and not so busy at university.
At university i am currently struggling with alpha Assembler *uerks*. At $JOB1 i configured radius-bases Mac-Address Authentication on Cisco IOS Acccesspoints for the first time and at $JOB2 i am working on polishing our $SOFTWARE for the upcoming OpenSource-Release, which is scheduled for April (stay tuned).
Unfortunately last week the spring started in Vienna (on Thursday 20C) which does not increase productivity in front of the Computer screen.
My girlfriend decided that I will spend Easter at her family’s like last year instead of fighting with Prolog.
Winter
This blog has been very quiet recently. I am now healthy again and I have been busy catching up work. Additional I am mentoring a new FreeBSD developer again. Simon Barner is my third mentee.
Last week it had snowed a lot in Austria. And today is the coldest day this winter. I spent the weekend here:
This is the farm of my girlfriends family.
ill–
My Operating System was infected by the latest virus circulating in Vienna. For the first time in my life i visited a doctor, but unfortunately she could not help much. Now I have been at home for nearly a week and I am still coughing, my nose is running and my headache prevents me from working.
Nerdscore

Hello 2005
Not much happend, on new year’s eve i drank more sparkling wine than in the whole last year. And as usually most of the first days of the new year were spent in bed. I am now half through Terry Pratchett’s “Carpe Jugulum” and started with Walter Moers’ “Die Stadt der trumenden Bcher”.
My ears enjoyed listening to my old eighties/nineties HipHop CDs (EPMD, Naughty by Nature, LL Cool J, MC Lyte etc.)
Today I had to work again but luckily most students are still on holiday…
