Bad Segeberg on FM4

Bad Segeberg, where i lived before I moved to Vienna in 2000, was mentioned on FM4, my favorite austrian radio station, last week. Stermann & Grissemann claim to play a role at the Karl May Festival.
Listen to the MP3s: part 1, part 2.
BTW, The most interesting news from Bad Segeberg in the last half year was probably the decline of Mbel Kraft, once one of the largest German furniture shops.

Looking for Billy Silver

You probably know Billy the famous IKEA Storage system. In my flat i have five bookcases in silver plus two BENNO CD-Towers. Unfortunately IKEA decided to stop producing the silver ones and now you can only get them in dark grey metallic, which is ugly and too dark for my flat. When I went to IKEA SCS two months ago the height extension units were already sold out. Since then I have checked IKEA in Salzburg and Hamburg, but found no height extension units. If you know an IKEA that still sells silver height extension units, please contact me immediately.

My home is not a fortress

For the second time in a few days i met strangers on the floor of my house.
In Vienna Austria all houses can be opened by a central key (called “BG Schlssel”), so that the garbage collection and the postman can enter the house. Unfortunately now nearly everyone can get such a key via grey channels.
The guy i met on the floor a few days ago claimed that he wanted to visit the company that rented my flat until 2001. Today at around 23.00 a guy entered the house and went straight into the garden (although it was raining) and watched the windows on the garden side. Asked what he was doing there he said that it was not my business and ran away. Since I know that the door of my flat is not a real barrier (and the windows are even worse) and i am not always awake and at home I don’t know what to do…

Head lice

My girlfriend’s nieces (8 and 12) are currently visiting. Yesterday we discovered that they have head lice. *wh* We spent the whole day washing hair and all clothes. I had to wash my thin hair with lice shampoo too to be safe.

Nearly Gone

Just came back from eating Kebap at Vienna’s most famous turkish restaurant Kent.
I will leave for .de in around 7 hours. So don’t expect something to read before Monday evening.

Wisdom tooth

My Wisdom tooth started moving today. Hopefully I don’t end up at the dentist emergency service over the weekend. My dentist wanted to remove it a year or two ago, but i declined and usually I know best about my teeth.
The Blogosphere today writes about MovableType 3.0 and its licensing. Looks like they are trying to dos sixapart with trackbacks. One of the more interesting articles was written by Timothy Appnel, who wrote the perl Module that powers my Blogroll. Luckily I am not affected by the License change, since I am running only one blog.

The German Embassy

Today I went to the German Embassy in Vienna for the first time. The German Embassy is located in the third district near the british and the french embassy.
The area looks like in a movie. Policemen everywhere, noting all cars passing by, or standing in telephone-box-like buildings (probably with safety glass) phoning with their headquarter. On every corner several Cameras monitored the street. The british embassy has a concrete wall around it, so it is looking they are awaiting an attack. (I wonder what will happen if I start taking pictures).
The german embassy was a bit more relaxed, only a high fence and a metal protector at the entrance of the building (a nice ugly washed-out-concrete building built in the glorious sixties). It also surprised me that I nearly immediately got a clerk that handled my request for a new passport.
